I was SOOO happy to learn of the rescue of your team-members, and saddened that Tom could not be among them. While not very religious myself, the families of all the hostages are in my thoughts and prayers, most especially Tom's family. My heart goes out to all of you.

While I don't believe our military should be in Iraq any more than you do, I am glad they were there to assist in getting you out.

Godspeed

It is FANTASTIC news that the hostages have been released. I am a teacher and we have been praying every day for the safety of these outstanding men. We are so excited for the families -in particular the Loneys - hi Matt and Ed :) I know that James' capture has changed the lives of many already and now that he has been released safely, his message will continue to inspire the world! My heart is overflowing....
Love to all

I needed this good news and am relieved and rejoicing. I will continue to carry you all in my heart - grateful for your work and witness - as I hold Tom's family as well.

Grace and peace to you all -and to our world.

Tears of joy and gratitude are streaming down my face at the good news. All of you have been in my heart and prayers every day and night since your capture. This is a day to rejoice!

I have no doubt that while Tom could sadly not be included in the rescue, his spirit is rejoicing along with the rest of us.

I rejoice in the freedom of James, Hameet, and Norman as I grieve for the loss of Tom. While I only knew Tom, I am grateful to all four men for the integrity they showed, living their values of peace and compassion. I hold all of them and their families in the light. Godspeed Tom.

Let there be no guilt or reproach in the days that follow our joy in having these men safely returned. Let us enfold them in our love and thank them for being prepared to suffer for their belief in the path of non-violence. Let us be tender with each other as we discern the way forward from here - there is still so much to be done. Jim, Harmeet, Norman - you will remain in my prayers. Tom - you will not be forgotten.

I have been praying for these men daily, even many times daily, since I heard of their capture. The Lord put Harmeet on my heart in particular. It was odd but I felt a real connection to him. He, and all the men along with CPT, has become a part of my everyday prayers and life. I woke up today and heard on the news that it is his birthday today. It's also my birthday! I'm 35 today. Many happy returns of the day, Harmeet!!! I'll be praying for you the rest of my days here. Glory to God. I think you have touched the world. I think He is saying "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"

To Mr Kember's family

I just wanted to express my happiness at the release of Norman Kember and Harmeet and Jim. I am so sorry about the loss of Tom and can't imagine what he and you all went through.

I live in Kingston, Surrey, UK, and have been thinking about you all every day. Although I am in no way a political or religious person, I believe in right and wrong and I think the world is a horrid one. Even though you were found by intelligence, etc, it is very tragic indeed that these hostage takers are probably going to continue to kidnap, torture, in the future.

I am just an ordinary secretary, going about my business and I read the news each day and was so delighted yesterday to read the wonderful news.

Keep safe, and I hope one day the world will be a better place.

This ordeal has reminded us how lucky we are to live in a rich and free country like Canada. Many canadian trees could be bearing yellow ribbons today, I know there is one in my backyard that is. Je souhaite à la famille Loney de belles retrouvailles.

Dear Friends,
For the last two days, I have been uplifted by the joy that Harmeet, Jim and Norman are free! I can only imagine what thoughts and feelings must be swirling around in each of your hearts and heads. And I know that it will take a great deal of time to sort through it all. As you do, please know that those of us who have been praying for you will continue to do so.

Although most of us who have been praying for you did not know Tom, Harmeet, Jim and Norman before last November, they have become "loved ones" for all of us. Their pictures have become like treasured family photos. And their commitment has reignited our own.

Thank you for inviting us in to walk with you all. May the God who unites us continue to sustain us and lead in the paths of peace.

Warmly,
Janet Ober, Upland, California

Any neutral reading of the gospels shows Jesus to be a total pacifist who went knowingly to a cruel death. Kember & co's courage is not naive or misplaced; it is true Christianity as Jesus taught.

Shame on Constantine, Augustine & Aquinas, & more recently the likes of Bush & Blair, who claim the title 'Christian', but defile it by words and actions that lead to death and destruction.
