Dear Friends..
I am a Palestinian friend of the CPT in Hebron. I worked with Tom and others side by side to help those who needed help. I am sure that those who kidnapped them have absolutely no idea about the CPT before they do what they did and I am sure that after this huge campaign to release them, especially from highly respected Muslim leaders, that our friends will be released.
I am sure that God will stand with them in this crisis and help them the same way they helped in Palestine and Iraq.

To the families and friends of Harmeet, Jim, Norman and Tom,

We continue to pray for your loved ones and for all the people missing or detained because of war and other conflicts. We pray as individuals, at CPT vigils, at home with our families, with our colleagues at work. We will continue to honour your loved ones and their work, and we will keep our candles burning for them and for you.

I pray often for Jim, Harmeet, Norman, Tom, their friends and families, those with them and for the peace of Christ to continue to comfort them. I pray that the light they feel from Christ and in one another will comfort them at this time. I pray for the world to walk the courageous path of peace they teach us. I pray for families in Iraq missing loved ones to be reunited and for all of us to walk a life of peace. I pray that the divine in all of us helps us trust peace and that we build international relations of trust, respectfulness and fairness. I pray that Harmeet, Norman, Tom and Jim continue to find peace and comfort in the peace emerging through their courage and faith into international and interpersonal relations. I think of the U2 song MLK as I wish them rest, healing and the Spirit of Christ as they persevere through this situation.
May they find in rest the strength to continue to give their light.

the Bergen family and others in Kansas are praying for you through these days of ups and downs. 'Our souls long for morning', the dawn of being able to see clearly what we know the darkness has not extinguished - we know love and life are there, but how we long to actually see! We sing "Bless the Lord, my soul, who leads you into light". We celebrate the heritage of Dr Martin King, and we are grateful for the work of your loved ones. Every day has some reminder of this work. You did not choose this road, but we pray that its scouring bareness can hold surprises of comfort.

I am a Friend from eastern OH, and have met some cpt'ers at various places. I don't know these 4 personally. I have been following this story, praying for their health, safety and release. I hope and pray that this is an opportunity for them to be a witness to their captors. I hope that they are singing.

STATEMENT FROM STUDENTS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE,
BETHEL COLLEGE, KANSAS, USA

4 December 2005

We are deeply saddened by news of the four Christian Peacemaker Teams members being held in Iraq. Christian Peacemaker Teams has opposed the war on Iraq since the beginning, and continues to be in opposition to the US-led war. We are very worried by recent news of threats made against them, and want to stress that they went to Iraq as peacemakers.

We ask that these men of peace be released unharmed.

Dear Friends.
Feburary is the month we celebrate valentines day. We will be having our pray and Play service for mums and little ones on the 7th Feb and we will be focusing on how Jesus loves us and how he laid down his life. We will be praying for your loved ones especially during this service and will be lighting our candle and dedicating it to those being detained.

Yesterday brought a glimpse of hope for parents, friends and family of the gentlemen held captive. Most Canadians like myself don't understand fully why people would revert to hostage taking as a mean to make their voice heard. Nous devrions faire l'effort de mieux comprendre le désespoir du peuple irakien, c'est d'ailleurs ironiquement ce que les quatre otages tentaient de nous faire comprendre. Meanwhile, all we can offer is our prayers for them, their family and their firends and our commitment to better understand the cause of the citizens of Irak. J'ajoute humblement mes prières à celles des qutres.

I am the Catholic Chaplain of University of Greenwich. Every time we pray together we remember you all.
I constantly wait for news and sincerely pray for all of you who wait for those you love to be released.
I hope we will join a vigil soon so that our heads too may be counted to those who want them released.
My wholehearted support for those who work for peace
May they know God's presence, and through the love of God may he sustain and keep them well in mind and body.

You are not forgotten, neither you and your family: a candle is burning in our language and literature suite to remind everybody who walks in to pray for you.

As we pray for you we also pray that in Iraq His kingdom come and His will be done so there can be peace, justice and reconciliation in a land where so many people are suffering.

Your pain in waiting isn't forgotten... we are still praying for you as you go through each day wondering how your beloved ones are doing, thinking, feeling. I pray that they will hear your prayer and that you will heart theirs, that you will have that kind of supernatural connection. And I pray for the strong, mysterious, and graceful power of God will surround them and work through them. May you not forget that he is a consuming fire, a mighty rushing wind, and passionately angry at injustice; and compassionate as a mother to the child she loves body and soul. May your hope and courage be increased and may your prayers be ignited.

To the loved ones, families, friends, and colleagues of Jim,

A friend who works, like me, in a government department, told me yesterday that she knew of Jim's courage and commitment to First Nations through her own work. She said that CPT's work at Grassy Narrows fighting racism in the Kenora area had really caught the attention of the provincial government at the time. My friend admired Jim's and the other CPTers' "getting in the way" to bring attention to long-standing injustices about which other people had not seemed to care until then. I remember Jim's courage when I stand up for First Nations' rights in my own work. Thank you Jim and CPT for your love and caring.

To Tom's family, I cry with you. I pray that you will be wrapped in peace and grace beyond understanding, that all the noise, all the many conflicting words and voices will fade in the presence of a still, small voice stronger than your grief, sharing in it and soothing it. Remember how Jesus wept because of his friends' grief, even when joy was so close at hand. You are his friends, you are not forsaken or passed over. I know that no words can truly bring comfort-- but know that I cry with you.

Dear Friends,
I am grieving this morning for the loss of Tom's bold presence amid the violent places of this earth as for the very personal loss suffered by the Fox family. And I am praying and hoping with "great hope" for the safe release of Jim, Harmeet and Norman. Although I have never met any of these four souls, how quickly they have grown to feel like personal friends! May there be comfort for all who grieve this morning in the poetry of John's gospel: "The light shines in the darkness; and the darkness has never overcome it."

Dear friends & family of CPT, Your are responding to the call of our Creator in a way most fearly fell they cannot. St Paul said in Gal. "I have been crucified with Christ, I live no longer I, Christ lives in me. Christ, the Prince of Peace, lives within us all & yet we denied the voice of His Spirit. My prayers, my prayerful thoughts throughout the day carry you in my heart. I thank you for your ways which proclaim an awareness for the oneness of humanity. We are blessed to know of your work, your message. In our own small way, we can join in your work in our own homes and neighborhoods. May we move by the Spirit to do so. Together in Christ Anne

To the members of CPT and the families of Harmeet, Jim, Norman, and Tom,

I read with great sadness today about the death of Tom. I must admit that I had not known about CPT until the abudctions were mentioned in the news. I am amazed and deeply moved by the love that motivates this group and the great sacrifice, born of love, that Tom, Harmeet, Jim and Norman and their families have made. I will keep you in my prayers.

As as young woman, just about finished university, who is trying to find the best way to use my gifts to work for peace and justice in God's beautiful world, I am inspired and encouraged by the work of Harmeet, Jim, Norman and Tom. They show us what it means to follow God's call.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Every day brings us a chance to make choices. Options to work towards leaving this world a better place or to stand by passively. Tom Fox chose to stand by his convictions and his dedication to peace will never be forgotten by the people of Iraq or Muslims worldwide.

We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Fox’s family and Christian Peacemaker Teams on behalf of the Chicagoland Muslim community. It breaks our hearts to hear of Mr. Fox’s murder and our prayers and love go out to you. We pray that his soul rests in peace and that God grant strength to you his family and colleagues at CPT. We pray that his demise will not be in vain. We pray that his death will give each of us reason to pause and reconsider the use of violence as a solution. We pray that it will call to light the many atrocities against which Tom stood and against which he protested. We pray it will bring a quicker end to this war in Iraq, to the wanton bloodshed there and to killing of innocents everywhere.

We cannot express enough gratitude and respect for the work that CPT has undertaken. The manner in which the organization has approached Mr. Fox’s death is admirable and courageous. Despite such a loss, to reaffirm your resolve to work for peace and justice, and to have called for forgiveness for those who’ve considered you enemies, is humbling as much as it is praiseworthy.

Mr. Fox’s death is murder and it is such a shame that it is being done in the name of Islam. His death is Un-Islamic and a gruesome stain on our religion. We will continue to demand, and pray for, the safe and speedy release of Harmeet Sooden, Jim Loney and Norman Kember.

In Peace and Solidarity,

CIOGC Chairman, Mr. Abdul Malik Mujahid.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved in this situation. I lost a brother to the Gulf War in 1991. I do take issue with how the CPT reported the story as the captees being released. They were rescued by our brave armed forces. If are going to report the story, please get the facts straight.
God Bless,
