Dear Friends:
I send a prayer your way asking that God's love will sustain you through this terrible ordeal. Although I don't know any of the CPTs, they are obviously very special people. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Sons of God".

The thing that always hits home at times like this is how it could be any of us that engage in peace work around the world. I still pray that they will be released and will have gained a greater understanding of the conflict with which to continue their work. I pray in the end good will come from this.

We were very moved by what we heard the CPT
team was doing in Iraq. It's exactly what is needed there. It's terrible that they are being held captive, but our hope is somehow that their captors will have their eyes opened and will understand God's love. We weep with you and hope to rejoice with you too on their safe return. Fred and Rhea.

I have realized now more than ever that we are all connected to each other, and we all bear responsibility for one another. May we all become our brothers' keepers better and better every day.

Your loved ones continue to bring light to this world, even in this difficult time. Every day, I encounter more people at work, at vigil, on my way to and from home, and in my family life who have been touched by the amazing courage and commitment to peace of Jim, Harmeet, Tom and Norman. Every day, we all learn more about their important work, and the work of others to promote peace around the world, and our own commitment grows. We would like you to know that we will continue to pray, to learn, and to try harder to help others in our lives, because of your sons, fathers, brothers, uncles.

To Jim's family - His friends in Toronto who work with the Ministry of Energy are thinking about you, and remembering Jim's kindness and his wonderful sense of community and fun during his time at Zaccheus House in Toronto.

To Harmeet's family - I live in Burlington, Ontario. On the way home from work in Toronto on the GO train last Friday evening, I met a man who had studied engineering with Harmeet. He commented on Harmeet's gentleness and his commitment to peace.

To all the missing CPTers' families: My own family puts a candle in the front window of our house very night for your loved ones and for you.

Sincerely,

Jill Pritchard-Scott

I pray for each and every one of you. May you all be blessed with a miracle this Christmas. Your family memebers who are held hostage are honourable people. I am an Indigenous person in Canada and I know some of them have helped in our communities. This does not always happen. I hope this word gets out to their captors and they send them back to you. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. May the Creator bless you all and may your loved ones come home to you alive.

Dear Families,
Please know that miracles occur often when associated with prayer. James, Norman, Tom and Harmeet have changed the world with their missions. Although a change of this magnitude may not have been in their plans, their capture has inspired stories and messages of hope that have touched every corner of the earth. They truly are heroes and it is my hope that when they are released the peace that they will bring about will be monumental. The tales of their amazing humanity has opened the eyes of many who did not see the true horror of the oppressed. Their messages of peace keeping and love for all humankind is inspiring. You should be immensely proud of what your brothers, sons, friends and loved ones are doing. They are changing the world forever!

My daughter Zoe who turned four this October is just learning to pray. When she isn't too embarrassed to give thanks during meals, she says,"Thank you Jesus for this wonderful food and this wonderful house. We pray for the four men that they don't get hurt. Amen." I carry a small piece of paper with Harmeet, Tom, Norman, and Jim's name in my pant's pocket to remember to pray for them. God's peacemakers are not forgotten in this house. Christine Mihevc

Dear families of Harmeet, Jim, Norman and Tom,
In this incredibly difficult time, please know that so many people have you and your loved ones in our hearts. I wrote a song today that I would like to share with you. Unfortunately I can't enclose music, but here are the lyrics. They don't do justice to the magnitude of what is happening, but are simply a message offered in hopefulness:

We're singing for peace,
And we're singing solidarity
Singing for courage and
Singing down walls
We'll sing without fear
And before all authority
Singing when darkness falls

I was walking along in a day dream
The cares of the world on my mind
The headlines they said,
There were 43 dead
And I thought of their loved ones behind

But we're singing for peace...

Now how can we turn this thing over?
Who has to make up their mind?
Raise your hand in a fist
You'll end up on a list
While the leaders go on with their war crimes

Still we're singing for peace...

Some take the next step of struggle
An attempt to get in the way
Believe to the core
In a world without war
Live to bring peace in our day

And we're singing for peace...

Dear Friends,
I am not feeling very eloquent, but I am moved to share my love. It has been hard to watch another day go by - and this very special day, Christmas - waiting for good news on your loved ones. I love them, too, for the example they give me, and the simple gifts they've wrapped for our world within their hearts and bodies. I am humbled and inspired. I have also not taken lightly this reminder of all the nameless other captives and victims I too often forget.
I pray you will feel some peace as you go through one moment at a time, that you will see some of the beauty of life each day, that you will guide your imaginations to good and gentle places, and that you will not feel alone in your sorrows.

There is not a day that goes by where I do not wish them safety and a wonderful reunion with their families and friends. I pray that you will get word soon and pray that it is good news.
Sending you prayers of strength,

I continue to pray for Harmeet, Norman, Tom, Jim and all of their families and friends. May the peace they give to the world be felt and may the love of Christ continue to surround and sustain them. I pray for their safe release and return home. It only takes a moment in a lifetime to be transformed and truly inspired by the example Jim lives and in the few moments our paths have crossed at church and in volunteer work, I have felt the incredible gift of harmony and peace flowing out from him. Whenever I look at Jim's picture I am filled with such an incredible sense of peace remembering who he is that I can't help but feel the incredible peace he gives to the world. The presence of peace in Jim has touched my life very deeply. I feel the same sense of peace when I read the words and see the work of Norman, Harmeet and Tom. I pray that the world feels the healing peace being given through the courage of Jim, Harmeet, Tom and Norman and that they are released safely.

Our church in Vancouver has a small basement suite, called Stillpointe, where we can use as a retreat. In Stillpointe there is a book of prayers. The faces of your four loved ones are in that book along with written prayers.
We continue to hold them up in prayer, longing for their release. May you feel God's peace in your hearts and know his love.
